taking up space
Ever since college, I knew I wanted to create content—but it took me until my 30s to decide what kind of creator I wanted to be.
I started off and on in 2019, after finishing grad school and gifting myself a MacBook Pro. I dove into Final Cut Pro tutorials and uploaded sporadically, with no real schedule or workflow in mind. By 2020, I stopped altogether. Still, I was proud of myself for putting my work out there—something high school me would never have done. Learning the basics of editing was enjoyable, but I often found it difficult to pick up the camera and press record.
Eventually, I admitted to myself that lifestyle vlogging just wasn’t for me. During the pandemic, when so many of us were glued to our devices, I felt it was the perfect time to pause (I’ll share more in another post on why taking a long pause can be so beneficial). I still enjoy capturing moments, but I realized I didn’t want to build a community around the details of my personal life. Everyone has their lane, which I truly admire and respect—but when I returned to YouTube in early 2024, focusing on yoga flows, wellness, skin and body care, and well-being, it felt so refreshing.
I started small, uploading one YouTube video a week. Then I moved to two uploads per week, added short-form videos (still working on my consistency there), and most recently, got a month ahead on YouTube recordings—my biggest win from this past summer. Now, I’m adding my website and blog into the mix.
This is just the beginning of my journey. I’m breaking down my vision into smaller, intentional steps, and I’m proud of myself for taking up space in such a vast social media landscape.
Thank you for joining me.
